Precision CNC Milling and Turning for Clients in Cleveland

A Cleveland-area OEM approached our ISO certified machine shop seeking a solution for machining a cast iron valve body. They faced challenges with delivery and quality from their previous supplier, leading to delays in meeting customer deadlines. Recognizing the opportunity, our team visited the OEM to understand the critical features of the valve body. We used our ERP system to adjust schedules, ensuring we could fit these parts into our production timeline without disrupting other commitments. Within a week of the initial contact, we repurposed tooling and fixtures, starting the machining process.

In addition to quick turnaround, we utilized automation to streamline machining, completing the task in two operations rather than four. Our CNC lathes with live tooling performed the initial operation, including drilling and tapping a side port. Then, our Kitamura HX-300iG CNC Horizontal Mill efficiently machined two other sides in a single operation.

While our machining team handled production, our quality control team set up detailed in-process checks to ensure no defects. Our ERP system generated precise inspection instructions, ensuring all team members understood the quality expectations. We’ve continued to deliver high-quality valve bodies to this OEM with zero defective parts shipped.

Centerless and Internal Grinding Services

Our centerless grinding services have been trusted by numerous Cleveland-area shops. One of our recent projects involved a customer needing centerless grinding after machining and heat treatment. They were behind schedule due to material delays and production setbacks, putting them at risk of missing their customer’s deadline. Our team quickly set up multiple grinders in advance, so when the

customer delivered their parts that morning, we were able to grind and deliver several thousand parts by the afternoon. Although our standard lead time for grinding is typically two weeks, this project demonstrated the Ripley Grinding Team's ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
